We are aiming to have our Language Learning Sessions composed of approximately 50% native Spanish and 50% native English language speakers with a goal of having 30 total participants at each location. Lessons for these sessions will encourage learners to practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking in both the English and Spanish language. A dynamic learning environment during each Language Learning Community session will allow learners the opportunity to be challenged and embrace working towards accomplishing set group and personal goals. Please feel free to contact us at (812) 384-4125 ext. 4 or email [email protected] with you questions. Otherwise, we are looking forward to having you join our Language Learning Community! As the holiday season is upon us our Greene County Literacy Coalition is delivering new giftwrapped books to the Little Free Libraries in our county. “This year has been quite challenging. However, we are always looking for ways to continue promoting literacy in our community and this book gifting is an opportunity to do so as well as to bring a little more joy, a little more connection, and a whole lot more books to our community,” says Armonda Riggs, Greene County Literacy Coalition Coordinator.
We hope that you venture out to one our county’s Little Free Libraries to pick up a book gift and celebrate the gift of reading. You can locate and get directions to the Little Free Libraries in our county that we have aided in installing by visiting our useful links webpage. Otherwise, you can locate all the Little Free Libraries in our county by searching on the national Little Free Library map at https://littlefreelibrary.org/ourmap/. Also, in other news from our Greene County Literacy Coalition, on Saturday November 7th we dedicated our county’s newest Little Free Library location at the Lyons Town Hall/Community Building at 600 W Broad St, Lyons, IN 47443. The Lyons Little Free Library was made possible by the town of Lyons, Roger Doane, builder Ben Riggs, the Greene County Foundation, Greene County Literacy Coalition, Bloomfield Eastern Greene Library, and Bloomfield Friends of the Library. Additionally, because of his pursuance in making sure this community had a Little Free Library and his commitment to the cause for literacy in our county we have dedicated the Lyons Little Free Library in the memory of Roger Doane. Below is a photo of the Lyons Little Free Library with giftwrapped books inside and the plaque we installed indicating this dedication. https://www.facebook.com/events/321733338932703
