Our Mission
The mission and purpose of the Greene County Literacy Coalition is:
- To develop new programs and to promote public awareness of the problems of illiteracy in our country, and more specifically, in our county
- To recruit, train, and supervise volunteer tutors
- To attract students, or “learners,” who want to learn to read or to improve their current skills and matching them with appropriate tutors

what we do
We are here to serve all Greene County adults, 18 years of age and older who are not currently enrolled in a school program.
We provide volunteer one-on-one tutoring in:
Learners gain the friendship and support of the tutor, who is trained to teach and understand adult learners.
We provide volunteer one-on-one tutoring in:
- HiSET exam Preparation
- Reading and Writing
- Basic Math
- Living Skills
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
